Last weekend I had the honor of participating in a surprise proposal here at Lewes Beach, Delaware.

Joe contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I would help him set up a photo shoot with him and his girlfriend of 10 years, Katie. They live in Northern Delaware, but are always visiting the beach, and their favorite spot is Lewes. Joe knew it would the perfect place to propose. So Joe told Katie that I was new to Lewes and looking for couples to photograph for more beach photos in my portfolio. Katie agreed and didn’t think anything of it.

About halfway through the photo shoot, I had Katie face away from Joe, and when she turned around, he was on one knee with the ring, and her reaction was priceless. It was one of the most raw and genuine moments I’ve had the honor to be a part of.

I love photographing surprise proposals and hope to continue shooting a lot more.
